American Honda has made a commitment to construct this project in accordance with the US Green Building Council’s (USGBC’s) LEED Rating system. The USGBC was founded in 1993 to promote and encourage green buildings that are healthy, profitable and environmentally responsible. In 1995, the USGBC developed its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Rating system, awarding Certification to buildings at certified, silver, gold or platinum level. This Rating system provides a national standard for green buildings. See the website at:  http://www.usgbc.org

Green building is a method of designing, constructing and operating a building so that its negative impact on the environment can be reduced or eliminated. Green buildings are very energy efficient, reduce electricity and water usage, use recycled and recyclable materials, have superior indoor air quality, reduce emissions, help conserve materials and resources, and are planned to minimize impact on the site. They enhance comfort of occupants, they reduce depletion of finite resources, reduce destruction of natural habitats, reduce air and water pollution.
